Kelly Roberts: Careers in the UN & Education

On March 8th, 2023, ALLIES welcomed Kelly Roberts, one of Tufts’ own career advisors and longtime primary NGO representative for NAFSA to the United Nations. Previously, she worked in the international education field as an immigration specialist. At the event, Kelly shared many interesting insights about her career experiences, and how to access great opportunities in those fields.

Graduate School Panel

ALLIES hosted its annual Graduate School Panel in Fletcher’s ASEAN auditorium where we invited three panelists from various graduate schools to speak in person to Tufts students. The panel consisted of Sairah Aslan (Fletcher), Siddharth Jain (Fletcher), and Raymond Wang (MIT Political Science).

Alex Gladstein: Bitcoin, Authoritarianism, and Human Rights

This April, ALLIES welcomed Alex Gladstein, the Chief Strategy Officer at the Human Rights Foundation and Vice President of Strategy at the Oslo Freedom Forum. Alex has connected hundreds of dissidents and civil society groups with leaders, experts, policymakers and artists to promote free and open societies. He spoke at length of the importance of Bitcoin for freedom, especially in contexts of political persecution.

FieldEx

From 9-3 on Saturday, April 16th Tufts ALLIES hosted FIELDEX: a wargame simulation that took place on a paintball field. Participants were assigned a role randomly to play out in a fast-paced crisis simulation, with lots of conflict. Lunch was provided, and after the simulation is over there was time to change teams and play traditional paintball!
