Graduate School Panel 2024

Ben Scharr-Weiner A’27

In this year’s panel, more emphasis was placed on the process of applying, including strategizing when to apply and what grad schools are looking for. Therefore, we invited an admissions representative from Fletcher for the first time who could provide a unique understanding of the issues at hand. The panel was a resounding success with strong turnout and active audience participation. The Freshman Representatives had the pleasure of hosting three esteemed panelists. Adam Herman, Dean of Fletcher admissions spoke about Fletcher’s merits through its knack for opening doors throughout one’s career. Between the different career services Fletcher provides and the connections made, while Fletcher cannot guarantee a job, it does significantly aid its students in their career aspirations. Meanwhile, Alex Wolfe and Tushar Rajput, both students at Fletcher gave insight about the environment and classes at Fletcher. In short, while the professors may provide superb lectures, the students, their learned experiences and what they have to share with each other during discussions are what makes Fletcher Fletcher. In terms of admissions, Fletcher seeks well-rounded candidates and pays attention to not just the skills, but the intangible qualities (primarily based on the letter of recommendations and personal essays). Finally of note, the question of when to go to graduate school is very individualized. There is no one right time to go to graduate school, and for different people, different times in their lives are better. (Ben Scharr-Weiner)
